CIRCLEVILLE — There was no stopping Addison Edgington on Saturday night.

In fact, there wasn’t even a hope to contain her.

In a 63-37 win over Logan Elm, Circleville’s junior center scored 40 points and collected 11 rebounds — breaking the program’s single-game scoring record in the process.

“Addison is becoming a matchup problem for anybody,” Circleville Josh Blakeman said. “She’s long, she’s skilled, and she’s expanded her game way beyond finishing at the rim. She hit a 3 tonight, made great reads, and continues to mature into a complete player. Her ceiling is extremely high, and we’re nowhere near it yet. On top of that, she’s just fun to be around. Her goofy personality keeps our group loose and connected.”

Edgington’s record-setting performance came on 17-of-24 shooting and a 5-of-7 showing at the charity stripe.

She was as balanced as ever, scoring nine points in the first quarter, 13 in the second, six in the third and 12 in the fourth.

Behind their star, Circleville (3-0, 2-0 MSL-Buckeye) led at every stop, taking a 32-12 lead into the halftime break.

“We played our best half of basketball so far this season, jumping out to a 32–12 lead at the break,” Blakeman said. “We controlled the tempo, owned the glass, and did a great job attacking their zone. On our end, we switched things up and played a ton of man — something we don’t usually do — and the girls handled it really well. They settled in, accepted the challenge, and set the tone early.”

Alongside Edgington was Maddie Blakeman with eight points, seven boards and 10 assists. Brooklyn Cramer helped out with two points, six rebounds and three assists, and Mallory McConnell posted seven points and 11 rebounds.

Logan Elm (3-1, 0-1 MSL-Buckeye) was led by Kimmy Petty with 12 points while Palynn Wray had 11 of her own.

The Tigers are back in action on Tuesday night, hosting Hamilton Township. Logan Elm will attempt to bounce back the same evening, welcoming in Liberty Union.

“Our biggest area for growth continues to be the start of the second half,” Blakeman said. “It’s been an issue in all three games, and we have to eliminate that complacency. We made shots and got stops when we needed them, but we’ve got to keep our foot down coming out of the locker room. That’s a huge win for our program against a very talented Logan Elm team.”
