PIKETON — A duo that has dominated SVC headlines this spring is starting to reap the benefits of their play.
Piketon’s Aubrey Heath and Adena’s Marly Halcomb have been, in a word, dominant all season. Every at-bat has been a nightmare for opposing pitchers and when there’s been an opportunity to give their team an edge, they’ve consistently taken advantage of it.
When the league released its all-league softball teams on Tuesday afternoon, Heath and Halcomb were named the co-SVC Players of the Year.
Heath led her Redstreaks to a second consecutive league championship, this time in Gold Ball fashion, while hitting .543 alongside 11 home runs, 10 doubles, 30 RBIs and 50 runs scored.
Meanwhile, Halcomb paced her Warriors to a 18-win season while batting .556 to go along with three homers, four triples, 15 doubles, 34 RBIs and 47 runs scored.
