GIRLS HOOPS: Four area players earn first-team All-Ohio honors, multiple others grace list

Here's a look at the area's All-Ohio honors in Divisions IV, V, VI and VII.

COLUMBUS — The Ohio Prep Sports Media Association released its Division IV, V, VI and VII All-Ohio girls basketball teams Monday afternoon and a handful of names within SOSA’s coverage area graced the list.

In Division IV, Circleville’s Addison Edgington is a first-team All-Ohioan after scoring 20.1 points per game and leading the Tigers to 23 wins alongside conference, district and regional championships. 

Logan Elm’s Kiannah Ingram was tabbed with second-team honors after guiding the Braves to 20 wins, averaging 19.8 points per night.

Waverly’s Paige O’Bryant, Hillsboro’s Tylee Davis and McClain’s Paisley Pryor was named special mention, while Gallia Academy’s Mallory Petro, Jackson’s Sydney Carpenter, Vinton County’s Kylee Smith, Circleville’s Maddie Blakeman, Fairfield Union’s Taylor Smeck, Hillsboro’s Kobie Miles and McClain’s Larah Hanson each earned honorable mention all-state honors.

Circleville coach Josh Blakeman was named Division IV Coach of the Year. 

In Division V, Portsmouth’s Sienna Allen is a first-team All-Ohioan. 

Allen led the Trojans to 24 wins and a second consecutive Division V state title, averaging 17.1 points per night while becoming the all-time leading scorer in school history — boys or girls.

Fairland’s duo of Bailey Russell and Addison Godby were adorned with second-team All-Ohio accolades, alongside Chesapeake’s Abbey Isaacs

Russell helped the Dragons win 23 games and make a fourth straight Final 4 appearance with 17.1 points per night, becoming Fairland’s all-time leading scorer in the process. Godby, on the other hand, tallied her 1,000th career point while collecting OVC, district and regional titles with 11.8 points per night. 

Isaacs put up 20.8 points per night, helping her Panthers win 14 games this season. 

Making the third-team All-Ohio list was Portsmouth’s Keke Woods and Amanda-Clearcreek’s Taylor Evans

Woods was the defensive catalyst to the Trojans’ third straight district and regional championships, putting up 17.1 points while also scoring her 1,000th career point. Evans, who also scored her 1,000th career point, returned from injury and lifted her Aces to a district final appearance while averaging 16 points.

North Adams’ Tenzlee Burns, Piketon’s Laila Kelley and Alexander’s Lily Ryder made the special mention list, while West’s Brayleigh Pistole and Macey Whisman, River Valley’s Hayley Edwards, Adena’s Marly Halcomb, Huntington’s Braliee Hauswirth, Minford’s Kerigan Davis, Portsmouth’s Hayven Carter, Wheelersburg’s Callie DeHart, Eastern Brown’s Sophia Uhl, West Union’s Annabelle McIntosh, North Adams’ Emma Pistole, Piketon’s Jaylin Forbes and Nelsonville-York’s Madi Pidcock were all named honorable mention all-state honorees.

In Division VI, Federal Hocking’s Brenlee Cottrill was named a first-team All-Ohioan, leading the Lancers to 15 wins and a second straight district title with 17.2 points per game.

Belpre’s Gracie Bills is a third-team All-Ohioan after averaging 16.7 points and leading her Golden Eagles to a district final appearance. 

Special Mention honors were earned by South Webster’s Addi Claxon, Valley’s Katelyn Queen, Coal Grove’s Jenna Anson and Waterford’s Brynnlee Pottmeyer, while Paint Valley’s Karris Dye, Ripley’s Raquel Hackney, Peebles’ Kendall Myers, Lynchburg-Clay’s Lily Ferguson, Fairfield’s Rilee Quickle, Eastern’s Laken Gullett, Fayetteville’s Cara Rummel and Federal Hocking’s Takira Walker made the honorable mention list.

In Division VII, Green’s Abbie Knapp was honored as a first-team All-Ohioan after leading her Bobcats to another district title with 25.3 points per game.

Notre Dame’s Jaysa Bryant was tabbed as a second-team honoree, leading the Titans to a district final appearance with 23.5 points a night. 

Clay’s Emma Emnett was a third-team selection, leading the Panthers to 17 wins with 17.5 points per night, including her 1,000th career point. 

South Gallia’s Ryleigh Shafer and Eastern Meigs’ Kyrstin Fackler were named special mention, while Southern’s Kiersten Rose, Eastern Meigs’ Braelyn Simpson, Clay’s Sophia Craft, Green’s Laney Strickland, New Boston’s Arenda Gosselin, Whiteoak’s Kyra Boyd, Trimble’s Rilynn Fouts and Symmes Valley’s Brenna Tibbs made honorable mention.
