10 names headline area’s DIV, DV All-Ohio football honorees

Here's a look at the area's All-Ohio football selections in Divisions IV and DV.

COLUMBUS — The Ohio Prep Sports Media Association released its Division IV and V All-Ohio football teams on Tuesday with a number of athletes earning top honors. 

In Division IV, Unioto’s Cody Braden was the lone first-team All-Ohioan in the area after leading the Shermans to 11 wins, including a playoff victory over Columbus East, with 1,314 yards and 23 touchdowns. 

Meanwhile in Division V, Wheelersburg’s Braylon Rucker, Ryan Meeker, Ison Emnett and Cooper Heimbach, Nelsonville-York’s Austin Gautier and Caeleb Layton, Ironton’s Zayne Williams, Amanda-Clearcreek’s Tommy Stai and Coal Grove’s Kaden Murphy all earned first-team All-Ohio honors. 

Rucker completed just under 80 percent of his pass attempts, throwing 15 touchdowns and running for eight more. Meeker was the Division V District Lineman of the Year, Emnett racked up over 50 tackles and led the team in tackles for loss, and Heimbach connected on 18-of-21 field goal attempts for the state runner-up Pirates. 

Gautier ran for 1,437 yards and 16 touchdowns while Layton had over 100 tackles and 19 sacks for the regional runner-up Buckeyes. 

Williams was the Division V District Defensive Player of the Year for the 8-2 Tigers, Stai ran for 1,425 yards and 25 touchdowns for the Aces, and Murphy was the Division V District Offensive Player of the Year with over 2,000 rushing yards and 26 scores. 

Wheelersburg coach Rob Woodward also earned individual honors, being named the Division V co-Coach of the Year.

Division IV

Unioto’s Landyn Carruth made the second-team All-Ohio list while Liam Mathey was a third-team selection alongside Circleville’s Hudson Phalin, Fairfield Union’s Grant McPherson and Washington’s Aden Osbourne.

The honorable mention list in DIV is highlighted by Unioto’s Isaac Coy, Bryce Jarvis, Jacob Renner, David Long and Jaxon Zickafoose, Circleville’s Kole Nungester, Braxton Dunkle, Jack Kline and Auri Travis, Westfall’s Joey Wright, Mason Halderman and Quinn Eberly, Gallia Academy’s Max Canady and Anton Haas, Fairfield Union’s Dean Clark and Zach Berry, Washington’s Sam Pfeifer and Wesley Gibbs, McClain’s Hudson Lovett, Logan Elm’s Myquan Waugh and Vinton County’s Kole Ousley

Division V 

Meanwhile in DV, Ironton’s Kayden Edwards and Caleb Jacobs, Wheelersburg’s Brady Doss, Nelsonville-York’s Will Odenthal, Zane Trace’s Blake Brower, Amanda-Clearcreek’s Gary Kemmerling and Valley’s Jaylen Bender all earned second-team All-Ohio honors. 

Portsmouth’s Trevin Brooks and Jacob Roth, Nelsonville-York’s Alec Thompson and Valley’s Nolan Barnett all grace the third-team list.
