Five area players headline All-Southeast District soccer selections

Throughout the season, Wheelersburg’s Nick Sylvia, South Webster’s Hunter Barnard, Gallia Academy’s Beckett Camden, Wheelersburg’s Ella McGraw and Fairfield’s Vivian Henninger have shown why they are the head of the class on the soccer pitch. 

The Southeast Scholastic Soccer Coaches Association released its all-district soccer lists with those five players each earning District Player of the Year honors in their respective divisions.  

Sylvia earned his honor in DIV by scoring 44 goals while his Pirates currently sit at 16-0-2 with a district title in hand, Barnard recently broke his own record for goals in a season, leading his Jeeps to a district title with a 16-1-3 record, and Camden led the Blue Devils to a district runner-up season at 16-3-1 with 28 goals and 14 assists.

Meanwhile, McGraw tallied 25 goals and 24 assists for the 14-4 district runner-up Pirates while Henninger has her Lions back in the Sweet 16 with a 13-6 record. She’s scored 31 goals and passed out seven assists this fall.

BOYS 

Division III

Joining Camden on the first-team list is his teammate Logen Drummond alongside Jackson’s Thatcher Brown and Grady Massie, Fairfield Union’s Graeson Redding and William Ogg, Marietta’s Cameron Koscho and Kellen Miller, Warren’s Ashton Barrow and Reme Fairbanks, Chillicothe’s Sam Byrd, Athens’ Braedon Talley, Miami Trace’s Landon Burns, Circleville’s Will Flory, Hillsboro’s Ryan Howland and Sheridan’s Xavier Weisbartz-Rodriguez. 

Earning second-team honors are Jackson’s Drew Neff and Landon Profitt, Fairfield Union’s Parker Redding and Nicholas Henwood, Gallia Academy’s Maddux Delaney and Nathan Shockey, Warren’s Ian Gardner and Max Himmeldirk, Marietta’s Will Haller and Brady Lent, Chillicothe’s Henry Byrd, Circleville’s Blain Fowler, Athens’ Miles Isaac, Miami Trace’s Ian Rayburn, Hillsboro’s Cooper Swope and Sheridan’s Dominic McKinney. 

On the honorable mention list is Fairfield Union’s Ben Spillers and Zach VanDeWater, Jackson’s Ryan LeFever and Fernando Rubio, Chillicothe’s Tevaughn Beatty and Will Thompson, Hillsboro’s Dylan Bender and Cameron Burkhard, Circleville’s Zane Bell and Kaden Paxton, Athens’ Jack Amos and Mikael Mend, Miami Trace’s Sinjin Smith and Andrew Trout, Gallia Academy’s Rylan Blaine and Owen Nourse, Warren’s Ethan Eddy and Jonah Willis, Marietta’s Graesyn Moat and Finn Tindall, Sheridan’s Kasen Miller and Thad Nikodym. 

Jackson’s Lee Lord is the division’s Coach of the Year.

Marietta’s Grace Spencer was named the District Player of the Year, and was joined on the first-team list by her teammate Alliana Mitchell, Fairfield Union’s Maddi Mitchell and Kyla Gasser, Miami Trace’s Karleigh Cooper and Nora Morrison, Unioto’s Aidyn Danison and Elliana Myers, Sheridan’s Morgan Tingler and Brenna Morehead, Athens’ Ella Chapman, Jackson’s Sydney Carpenter, Chillicothe’s Alex Erslan, Warren’s Emma Parker and Washington’s Calee Ellars. 

Making the second-team list is Unioto’s Thalia Cruz and Jillian Mathey, Fairfield Union’s Peyton Hughes and Avery Martin, Miami Trace’s Elyse Day and Marian Mara, Marietta’s Taylor Addis and Caroline Cortopassi, Chillicothe’s Petiah Martin and Kearston Archer, Sheridan’s Ivy Daly, Jackson’s Kollier Fulton, Athens’ A.J.
