CHILLICOTHE — DJ Crocker is no stranger to reaching base safely. Opposing pitchers know that all too well … and still could barely keep his bat quiet.

Huntington’s senior helped his Huntsmen finish 11-3 in Scioto Valley Conference play, hitting .500 with two home runs, six doubles and a league-high 25 RBIs.

He was also efficient on the bump, winning three games and posting an ERA of 2.40.

For those reasons, Crocker has been named the SVC Player of the Year while his coach, Chad Carroll, has been selected as the league’s co-Coach of the Year, an honor shared with Zane Trace coach Ron Allen.

Allen led his Pioneers to an outright league championship at 12-2.

Joining Crocker on the conference’s first-team list is teammate Braylon Leach.

The SVC champion Pioneers are also represented well on the first-team list by Josh Young and Landen Jarrell. Those two are joined by Unioto’s Ashton Crace and Keegan Snyder, Adena’s Austin Magill, Southeastern’s Carson McWhorter and Westfall’s Brenden Tuttle.

Earning second-team honors are Huntington’s Andrew Oyer, Zane Trace’s Rece Allen and Blake Phillips, Piketon’s Garrett Legg, Unioto’s Dylan Grubbs and Maverick Frump, Paint Valley’s Carson Free and Preston Fauber, and Westfall’s Noah Stonerock.

Honorable mention selections are as follows: Adena’s Christian Heath and Ethan Puckett, Huntington’s Brayden Elliott and Mitchell Willis, Paint Valley’s John Free and Owen Donahue, Piketon’s Ashton Cormany and Malik Diack, Southeastern’s Joey Pfeifer and Gage Cheadle, Unioto’s Landyn Patterson and Owen Link, Westfall’s Brady Mullins and Trent Walters, and Zane Trace’s Dillon Hoover and Gunnar McCullough.
