Here’s where each area baseball team will start tournament runs

Take a look at where your favorite area baseball team will start its tournament run.

Southern Ohio Sports Authority is presented by OhioHealth.

The area’s baseball programs learned of their first-round postseason fates Sunday afternoon as the Southeast Ohio District Athletic Board revealed tournament seeds.

Here’s a brief look at where each area team will begin its postseason run.

NOTE: All sectional tournament games are hosted by the highest seeded team.

DIVISION I

Chillicothe (6-17) earned a No. 41 seed and will travel to play at No. 36 Logan on May 13.

DIVISION II

The top-seeded team in SOSA’s coverage area is No. 1 Unioto (18-4). The Shermans will take on the winner between No. 16 Fairfield Union (10-14) and No. 17 Piketon (11-14) at 5 p.m., May 15 at home.

That same evening, No. 4 Jackson (18-4) faces the winner between No. 13 Marietta and No. 20 River Valley, No. 5 Athens (16-4) faces No. 12 Meigs, and No. 6 Miami Trace (14-6) hosts No. 11 Circleville (9-12).

Also in DII, No. 7 Waverly (14-7) takes on No. 10 Gallia Academy (11-8) and No. 9 Washington (12-8) travels to No. 8 Warren. No. 14 Logan Elm (10-11) hosts No. 19 Hillsboro (2-18) on May 13 with the winner of that game going to No. 3 Sheridan. Last, but not least, No. 15 McClain (9-12) hosts No. 18 Vinton County (4-15) and the winner will play at No. 2 New Lexington. 

Southeastern’s Carson McWhorter will lead his Panthers into the postseason.

DIVISON III

Wheelersburg (19-2) is the top seed in Division III and will await the winner of No. 25 Crooksville and No. 24 Peebles (3-10) on May 16 in a sectional final. 

That same evening, No. 2 Zane Trace (18-4) plays against the winner of No. 26 Coal Grove (2-15) and No. 13 Chesapeake (5-15) while No. 3 Portsmouth (17-4) faces the winner of No. 27 West Union (2-12) and No. 22 Belpre.  

Sectional final games played on May 16 feature No. 4 Eastern Brown (16-2) against No. 21 Alexander, No. 5 Huntington (15-6) facing No. 20 Northwest (7-12)No. 6 Minford (15-4) against No. 19 North Adams (7-13), No. 7 South Point (13-10) against No. 18 Westfall (6-12), No. 8 Ironton (12-9) versus No. 17 Adena (7-14), and No. 9 Lynchburg-Clay (12-7) hosting No. 16 Valley (6-9).

Additionally, No. 10 Southeastern (11-11) takes on No. 15 Oak Hill (8-11), No. 11 Fairland (9-11) faces No. 14 Rock Hill (7-13) and No. 12 Wellston (12-7) plays No. 13 West (7-13). 

DIVISON IV

In Division IV, all sectional final games will take place on May 14. 

Top-seeded Fairfield (13-4) faces the winner between No. 16 Clay (7-9) and No. 17 Eastern (5-11)No. 2 Whiteoak (15-5) faces the winner of No. 15 Waterford and No. 18 East (5-10), and No. 4 Green (13-5) plays against either No. 13 South Gallia (10-10) or No. 20 Federal Hocking.

No. 7 Manchester (14-6) faces No. 10 South Webster (9-12) and No. 8 Ironton St. Joe (12-3) plays No. 9 Symmes Valley (12-7).

No. 11 Notre Dame (11-5) hosts No. 22 New Boston (0-15) while the winner of that contest plays at No. 6 Trimble. No. 12 Paint Valley (11-12) faces No. 21 Western (0-21), with the winner playing at No. 5 Southern. No. 14 Miller also hosts No. 19 Nelsonville-York (4-13), with the winner going to No. 3 Reedsville Eastern.
