KINNIKINNICK — After leading Zane Trace to two consecutive playoff berths, football coach Heath Hinton is stepping away from the position.

Hinton’s resignation was made official on Tuesday.

“I have enjoyed my three seasons at Zane Trace leading the football program,” Hinton said. “Thank you to my wife and children for encouraging and supporting me as a head coach. The Zane Trace administration, teachers, coaches, players and community have been tremendous. I cherish my time I spent with players, both on and off the football field. Those memories with players will outlast any of the success we have had on the field.”

In the past three years at ZT, Hinton led the Pioneers to an overall record of 23-10. The team won a Gold Ball last fall with a 7-0 mark in the Scioto Valley Conference before ending the season with a second round playoff exit.

“I was fortunate to have such a great staff of loyal coaches,” Hinton said. “They put a tremendous amount of effort in building up the program to what it is today.”
