Here’s where each area girls basketball team will start tournament runs

Take a look at where your favorite area girls basketball team will start its tournament run.

Southern Ohio Sports Authority is presented by OhioHealth.

The area’s girls basketball programs learned of their first-round postseason fates Sunday afternoon as the Southeast Ohio District Athletic Board revealed tournament seeds.

Here’s a brief look at where each area team will begin its postseason run.

NOTE: All sectional tournament games are hosted by the highest seeded team.

DIVISION I

Leading the area’s Division I teams is No. 14 Teays Valley (14-5), who will play host to Hilliard Bradley at 7 p.m. on Feb. 15. in a sectional semifinal. The winner of that game will play No. 23 Chillicothe (13-5) in a sectional championship at 1 p.m., Feb. 18.

Meanwhile, No. 35 Logan (4-14) travels to Newark at 7 p.m. on Feb. 15.

DIVISION II

The area’s top-seeded team in Division II is Fairland (18-0). The Dragons will host either No. 16 Washington (3-16) or No. 17 Hillsboro (3-16), who play on Feb. 13, in a sectional final Feb. 16.

Meanwhile, No. 18 Gallia Academy (2-18) will travel to No. 15 Vinton County (4-14) in a sectional semifinal on Feb. 13 at 7 p.m.

Elsewhere, No. 9 Waverly (12-6) will travel to No. 8 Circleville (14-5), No. 13 McClain (6-13) will go to Marietta, No. 12 Fairfield Union (7-9) goes to Warren, No. 2 Unioto (18-0) hosts either Vinton County or Gallia, No. 10 Miami Trace (11-8) will pay a visit to New Lexington, No. 14 Logan Elm (4-15) will make a trip to Sheridan, and No. 11 Athens (11-7) will meet with No. 6 Jackson (14-3).

Those matchups, all of which are sectional championship games, will take place at 7 p.m. on Feb. 16.

In the Central District, No. 5 Bloom-Carroll (12-7) will host London in a sectional final at 1 p.m. on Feb. 18.

DIVISION III

The top-seeded teams in the area’s largest division is the North Adams Green Devils (20-0).

North Adams, the No. 1 seed, will await the winner of No. 25 Ironton (4-17) and No. 24 West Union (6-14) — who meet in a sectional semifinal on Feb. 15, at 1 p.m. on Feb. 18 in a sectional championship.

Also receiving first-round byes is No. 2 West (19-1), No. 3 Wheelersburg (17-2), No. 4 Eastern Brown (18-3), No. 5 Adena (16-3), No. 6 Rock Hill (16-5), No. 7 Fairfield (13-5) and No. 8 Portsmouth (15-5).

The Senators will host the winner of No. 26 Westfall (5-15) and No. 23 Wellston (6-12), the Pirates will host either Belpre or No. 22 South Point (5-11), the Warriors will host No. 28 Northwest (3-15) or No. 21 Southeastern (8-10), Adena will have Crooksville or River Valley, the Redwomen will entertain Alexander or Federal Hocking, Fairfield will play host to No. 31 Zane Trace (0-20) or No. 18 Huntington (9-10), and Portsmouth will meet with Meigs or No. 32 Oak Hill (0-18).

All of the above games are sectional championships matchups, slated for 1 p.m. on Feb. 18.

Also in Division III, No. 13 Piketon (13-7) makes a trip to No. 12 Lynchburg-Clay (11-8), No. 14 Peebles (13-8) goes to No. 11 Minford (12-6), No. 15 South Webster (11-9) visits No. 10 Chesapeake (14-6) and No. 16 Coal Grove (11-10) pays a visit to No. 9 Nelsonville-York (15-4).

Those games are also sectional championship matchups and will also be at 1 p.m. on Feb. 18.

In the Central District, No. 7 Amanda-Clearcreek (11-8) will host the Columbus School for Girls at 7 p.m., Feb. 14 in a sectional semifinal.

DIVISION IV

In Division IV, No. 1 Notre Dame (17-1) will host the winner of No. 17 Manchester (2-15) and No. 16 Ironton St. Joe (3-14) on Feb. 15 in a sectional title game. The Greyhounds will meet with the Flyers on Feb. 13.

Paint Valley (11-7) is a No. 4 seed and will host Trimble, No. 9 New Boston (10-8) will travel to No. 8 Valley (6-10) that same evening, and No. 12 Eastern (4-15) goes to Eastern Meigs. All of those sectional championship matchups are scheduled to tip at 7 p.m. on Feb. 15.

Elsewhere in sectional title games, No. 10 Clay (8-10) makes a trip to No. 7 Symmes Valley (11-9) and No. 11 Western (5-11) travels to No. 6 Whiteoak (12-9) on Feb. 15.

Miller will travel to No. 15 Green (5-11) for a sectional semifinal at 7 p.m., Feb. 13, while No. 19 East (3-15) travels to Southern that same evening.
