SW’s Claxon, SOC I trio headline all-SOC volleyball honors

The Southern Ohio Conference released its all-league volleyball honors on Monday.

PORTSMOUTH — Four players have earned Player of the Year honors in the Southern Ohio Conference.

Notre Dame’s Annie Dettwiller is the tri-SOC I Player of the Year.

South Webster’s Bella Claxon is the SOC II POY while Notre Dame’s Annie Dettwiller and Bree Hicks, as well as Western’s Kenzie Ferneau, share POY honors in the SOC I.

Claxon’s Jeeps, who are preparing for a regional tournament run, stand at 23-2 overall while Dettwiller and Hicks’ Titans ended the year at 21-5 with a sectional title under its belt. Ferneau and company were 14-9.

Claxon has been magnificent all year long, totaling . Meanwhile, Dettwiller ended her senior campaign with 243 kills, 36 aces, 36 blocks and 315 digs. Hicks had 268 kills, 88 aces, 17 blocks and 345 digs, and Ferneau collected 292 kills, 19 aces, 31 blocks and 511 digs.

In the SOC I, the Defensive Player of the Year is Notre Dame’s Mallory Boland while ND’s Katie Dettwiller is the division’s Coach of the Year.

Joining Dettwiller, Hicks, Boland and Ferneau with first team honors is Notre Dame’s Gwen Sparks, Western’s Addy Brewster and Katelyn Penwell, New Boston’s Dylan O’Rourke and Cadence Williams, Clay’s Katie Fife, Green’s Lori Brown, Symmes Valley’s Mary Beth Back, and East’s Caiden Minnix.

Second-team honors in the SOC I were earned by Notre Dame’s Gracie Ashley and Maddie Entler, Western’s Kerrigan Marhoover and Breileigh Tackett, New Boston’s Jadelyn Lawson and Bre Conkel, Clay’s Morgan McCoy and Maggie Swayne, Green’s Alex Smith, Symmes Valley’s Joaelyn Carpenter, and East’s Ella Shope.

In the SOC II, West’s Emma Sayre is the division’s Defensive Player of the Year while the Jeeps’ Darcee Claxon and Wheelersburg’s Allen Perry share Coach of the Year honors after their respective teams shared the title.

Joining Claxon and Sayre with first-team honors is South Webster’s Skylar Zimmerman, Addison Claxon and Natalie Adkins, Wheelersburg’s Makenna Walker, Madie Mays, Lexie Rucker, Kiera Kennard, Waverly’s Kelli Stewart, Hallie Oyer, Northwest’s Karleigh South, Minford’s Kynedi Davis, Valley’s Addalyn Conaway, Eastern’s Megan Nickell and Oak Hill’s Jordan Howard.

Second-team honors in the SOC II were earned by South Webster’s Makayla Raynard, Lauren Kaltenbach, Wheelersburg’s Madison Whittaker and Gracie Perkins, Waverly’s Izzy Smith and Sidney Johnson, West’s Maelynn Howell and Haley Coleman, Northwest’s Claire Newman, Minford’s Lindsee Williams, Valley’s Lexie Morrow, Eastern’s Laken Gullett and Oak Hill’s Brinlee Harden.
