Here’s where each area softball team will start tournament runs

Take a look at where your favorite area softball team will start its tournament run.

Southern Ohio Sports Authority is presented by OhioHealth.

The area’s softball programs learned of their first-round postseason fates Sunday afternoon as the Southeast Ohio District Athletic Board revealed tournament seeds.

Here’s a brief look at where each area team will begin its postseason run.

DIVISION II

The top-seeded team in SOSA’s coverage area is No. 1 Unioto (16-1). The Shermans will take on the winner between No. 16 Chillicothe (5-11) and No. 17 McClain (3-11) at 5 p.m., May 9 at home.

That same evening, No. 3 Vinton County (15-4) hosts the winner between No. 14 Waverly (7-9) and No. 19 Marietta (0-14). No. 4 Hillsboro (10-4) hosts No. 13 Jackson (7-9)No. 5 Athens (12-6) hosts No. 12 Washington (10-7), No. 6 Circleville (10-4) takes on No. 11 River Valley (8-7), and No. 7 Fairfield Union (10-6) hosts No. 10 Logan Elm (8-8). 

No. 18 Miami Trace (0-9) travels to take on No. 15 Meigs in a sectional semifinal, where the winner earns a date with No. 2 seeded Sheridan.

In the Central District, No. 5 Bloom-Carroll (10-5) will host a first round game against Marion Franklin at 5 p.m. on May 12.

DIVISON III

Wheelersburg (15-1) is the top seed in Division III and will await the winner of No. 25 Piketon (4-12) and No. 24 Federal Hocking on May 12. 

First round games also played that same evening will feature No. 2 West (18-2) against the winner of No. 23 Oak Hill (3-11) and No. 26 West Union (4-7), No. 3 Wellston (15-1) against either No. 27 Alexander or No. 22 Chesapeake, and No. 4 Portsmouth (17-2) faces off against either No. 21 South Point or No. 28 Minford (2-13). 

Additionally, No. 5 Fairfield (14-2) takes on No. 20 Eastern Brown (7-6) or No. 29 Lynchburg-Clay (2-8), No. 6 Adena (15-2) faces either No. 19 Coal Grove or  No. 30 Huntington (2-16) while No. 7 Ironton (12-6) takes on either No. 18 New Lexington or No. 31 North Adams (0-11).

No. 8 Westfall (13-6) plays No. 17 Valley (7-8), No. 9 Southeastern (12-5) plays No. 16 Zane Trace (8-7) and No. 12 Northwest (11-10) plays No. 13 Rock Hill.

In the Central District, Amanda-Clearcreek (4-9) will host Worthington Christian at 5 p.m. on May 12 while Liberty Union (8-8) will travel to Fredericktown the same night.

South Webster is a No. 4 seed in Division IV and will start its tournament run against Whiteoak.

DIVISON IV

In Division IV, top seeded Notre Dame (14-1) faces the winner between No. 16 New Boston (5-14) and No. 17 Trimble, while No. 2 Clay (10-7) faces the winner of No. 15 Green (5-9) and No. 18 Western (2-10) on May 11. 

That same evening, No. 4 Symmes Valley (9-6) faces No. 13 Whiteoak (6-7), No. 5 Manchester (9-3) plays No. 12 Paint Valley (7-12), No. 6 South Webster (11-7) plays No. 11 South Gallia. 

No. 9 Peebles (7-8) plays at No. 8 Miller, and No. 14 Eastern (5-13) hosts No. 19 East (0-15), with the winner playing No. 3 Belpre.

NOTE: All sectional tournament games are hosted by the highest seeded team.
