Minford’s Livi Shonkwiler wins The UPS Store’s SOC Athlete of the Week award

Shonkwiler broke the school's career assist record with her 1,655th.

MINFORD — After rewriting a school record, and leading her team to a sectional final appearance, Minford’s Livi Shonkwiler has been voted as the SOC Athlete of the Week.

Not too long ago, Shonkwiler set Minford’s school assist record with the 1,655th of her career. She then furthered that mark before ending her career with a total of 1,678 assists … alongside 845 digs and 164 aces.

For her efforts, Shonkwiler is SOSA’s 27th overall SOC Athlete of the Week, presented by The UPS Store.

Northwest’s Haidyn Wamsley actually won the popular vote with 841 votes won out of 1,788 in total. Shonkwiler earned 734 votes, or 41.1 percent of the total, finishing second in the voting, Wheelersburg’s Matthew Miller was third with a count of 142, and South Webster’s Faith Maloney was fourth at 71.

Shonkwiler received three of the four votes from the guys at SOSA to win the award.

For her efforts, Shonkwiler will receive a free t-shirt from The UPS Store, as well as meal coupons from the Schmidt Family Restaurant Group.
