Jackson’s Kloe Zink wins Athlete of the Week honors

Zink led the Ironladies to a 10-8 finish and a win over Fairfield Union in a Division II sectional semifinal.

SOSA Staff Report

JACKSON — All year long, the Jackson Ironladies have relied on Kloe Zink to lead them to success. And all year long, Zink has answered the call.

After a rough start to the season, Zink helped propel Jackson to a 10-8 finish which included a thrilling come-from-behind win over Fairfield Union in a Division II sectional semifinal.

In that contest, she totaled 13 kills and 18 digs. She ended the season with a team-high 217 kills, 13 aces and 180 digs.

For those reasons, Zink has been named SOSA’s Athlete of the Week.

Out of 3,824 public votes, Zink accounted for 1,779 or 46.5 percent of the total. Waerly’s Jaxson Poe finished second in the voting with 1,347, Adena’s Ari DaRif was third with a count of 285, Unioto’s River Pettigrew was fourth at 213 and Washington’s Aaralyne Estep came in fifth at 200.

Zink received three of the four votes from the guys at SOSA as well.

For her efforts, Zink will receive a free t-shirt, thanks to Mile Tree Screen Printing, and a free Wendy’s combo meal via Schmidt Family Restaurant Group.
