McClain’s Kerigan Pollard wins Athlete of the Week honors

Pollard scored her 100th career goal before tying the school's all-time scoring record.

SOSA Staff Report

GREENFIELD — There’s many words that could describe Kerigan Pollard. But with a soccer ball at her feet, there’s only word that’ll do her justice.

It’s special.

Last week, McClain’s senior leader scored her 100th career goal. Then, she followed that up with her 106th, tying Taylor Polley’s school record.

She currently has her Tigers sitting at 7-6 overall, matching last year’s win total.

For those reasons, Pollard has been voted as SOSA’s Athlete of the Week.

Out of 1,540 public votes, Pollard accounted for 597 or 38.8 percent of the total. Chillicothe’s Addie Erslan finished second in the voting with 521, Unioto’s Ethan Kerns was third with a count of 213, and Southeastern’s Sierra Mitten came in fourth at 209.

Pollard received two of the four votes from the guys at SOSA as well.

For her efforts, Pollard will receive a free t-shirt and water bottle, thanks to Mile Tree Screen Printing, and a free Wendy’s combo meal via Schmidt Family Restaurant Group.
