Jackson’s Kirsten Evans wins Athlete of the Week honors

Evans scored four goals against Athens and Alexander, each wins.

SOSA Staff Report

JACKSON — If you haven’t noticed, Jackson’s girls soccer program is off to a fast start this season. The Ironladies enter Thursday at 6-1 overall and 3-0 in the Frontier Athletic Conference.

Kirsten Evans is an important reason why that’s happening.

Last week, in wins over Athens and Alexander, Evans found the back of the net four times. The Ironladies beat Athens by a 5-0 final and earned a 3-2 victory over Alexander — Evans supplied the third and winning goal.

For those reasons, Evans has been voted as SOSA’s Athlete of the Week.

Out of 1,787 public votes, Evans accounted for 862 or 48.2 percent of the total. Waverly’s Will Futhey finished second in the voting with 430, Adena’s Jenna Martin was third with a count of 261, and Chillicothe’s Kam Smith was fifth with 234.

Evans received two of the four votes from the guys at SOSA as well.

For her efforts, Evans will receive a free t-shirt and water bottle, thanks to Mile Tree Screen Printing, and a free Wendy’s combo meal via Schmidt Family Restaurant Group.
