VOLLEYBALL

Circleville 3, Westfall 0

The Mustangs dropped their home opener to county rival Circleville on Saturday, falling by a 25-17, 25-13, 25-14 final.

Statistically, Kristin Phillips led Westfall (0-1) with 12 kills, five blocks and seven digs while Marissa Mullins added four kills and five blocks. Claire Latham also helped, logging eight assists and seven digs while Gabby Patete and Kayla Fleischmann each had six digs.

GIRLS SOCCER

North Adams 11, Zane Trace 1

The Green Devils (1-0) started their season with a road win over Zane Trace (0-1) on Saturday.

Karissa Buttelwerth had a busy day for North Adams, scoring three times, while Ainsley Grooms tallied two goals. Hunter Grooms also helped out with two goals and an assist while Braylie Jones added a goal and three assists.

The Pioneers’ lone goal came off the foot of senior captain Alexis Guffey with 11:23 left in the first half.

New Albany 10, Unioto 0

The Shermans (0-1) fell to New Albany on Saturday after going into halftime down 2-0.

Unioto goalkeeper Sydney Free tallied 11 saves in the contest.

Eastern Brown 5, Hillsboro 4

The Warriors (1-0) got off to a good start with a one-goal win over Hillsboro (0-1) on Saturday.

In the victory, Rylee Leonard and Emma Prine each scored two goals while Mary Litzinger notched the final score for Eastern. Prine also passed out two assists. In goal, Karleigh Perkins had nine saves while Alyssa Perkins made five saves.

For the Indians, Lexi Sheppard turned in a hat trick and an assist.

BOYS SOCCER

North Adams 5, Zane Trace 5

In a highly contested contest, North Adams (0-0-1) and Zane Trace (0-0-1) played to a season-beginning tie on Saturday.

The Green Devils were led by Jayden Hesler, who scored three goals, while Cody Hesler and Seth Vogel scored one goal apiece.

For the Pioneers, Spencer Wycinski scored a pair of goals and both Brock Jarrell and Jayden Berry logged a goal each. 

Zane Trace’s final goal was from Ethan Nelson and came with 1.3 seconds left to force the tie.

OTHER SCORES: South Point 5, New Boston 1
