WEEKEND LEGION RECAP: Post 757, Post 142 pick up wins to begin summer slate

Post 757, Post 142 and Post 23 all began their summer seasons this past weekend. Take a look at their results.

SUNDAY, JUNE 14

Game 1: Chillicothe Post 757 8, Portsmouth Post 23 4

Nick Salyer earned the win for the Colts (3-1), pitching four innings and giving up just four hits while striking out four batters.

At the plate, Emmitt Cunningham and Ryan Schwartz each finished with two RBIs, while Salyer, Lucas Foglesong, Drew Seymour and Cole Ratcliff added an RBI each.

Seth Nichols led 23 (0-4) offensively, going 2-for-4 with two RBIs while Jaden Jessee went 2-for-3 with two runs. Chase Conley also helped out, going 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Game 2: Chillicothe Post 757 2, Portsmouth Post 23 1

Foglesong picked up the victory on the mound, pitching three innings of shutout baseball and striking out four batters.

Schwartz and Ray Beyer each had an RBI for the Colts in victory.

23’s Dakota Dodds took the loss, tossing three innings and allowing two runs, one of which was earned. At the plate for Portsmouth, Logan Hankins was 1-for-3 with an RBI.

Waverly Post 142 5, McArthur Post 303 3

In a game that carried over from Thursday’s season opener due to rainstorms, Waverly 142 (2-1) officially pounded down a victory.

Derek Eblin was 1-for-2 at the plate with a home run and three RBIs. Kannon Pack had two runs and drew three walks, and both Lane Mettler and Roger Woodruff had an RBI each.

Jacob Matthews picked up the W on the hill, throwing five innings, allowing one hit and striking out nine.

FRIDAY, JUNE 12

Game 1: Lancaster Post 11 10, Waverly Post 142 1

Eblin suffered the loss in 1 2/3 innings, allowing three hits and four earned runs.

Logan Maynard had the only hit for the Shockers while Kannon Pack logged an RBI.

Game 2: Waverly Post 142 5, Lancaster Post 11 2

Lane Mettler notched the victory on the mound, tossing four scoreless innings and striking out eight batters in the process. He additionally finished with a double and three RBIs.

Roger Woodruff and Easton Lansing added an RBI each.

Chillicothe Post 757 10, Dayton Classics 8

With the game tied 8-8 in the bottom of the seventh, Emmitt Cunningham played the her role as he belted a walk-off two-run bomb on an 0-2 count to give the Colts the victory.

Ratcliff also added two RBIs while Foglesong, Seymour, Kyle Wingo and D.C. Dailey had an RBI each.

Schwartz earned the victory on the bump for the Colts, pitching a scoreless seventh inning.

THURSDAY, JUNE 11

Game 1: Ashland Post 76 8, Portsmouth Post 23 6

Cade McNeil had two RBIs for Portsmouth while Seth Nichols added a double and an RBI of his own. Mason Montgomery also doubled and scored a run.

23 had a 5-0 lead but allowed Ashland to score six earned runs on six hits in the fourth, effectively erasing the deficit.

Game 2: Ashland Post 76 9, Portsmouth Post 23 2

Chase Conley knocked in both runs for Post 23, plating both Andrew Andronis and Braden Horr.
