In My Own Words: Huntington senior Lillie Snyder thanks TWP, family, teammates, coaches

Huntington senior Lillie Snyder takes a moment to thank those who have helped her along her four-year softball journey.

*Lillie, the Huntsmen’ shortstop, ended her junior year hitting .500 and was a second-team all-SVC selection, and an honorable mention all-district honoree. She was 29 hits away from 100 in her career heading into her seniors season.

Being from the TWP, it’s a small, tight-knit community where everyone is family and has your back no matter the circumstance. That’s why I loved every moment of my 13 years of school and sports at Huntington High School.

To Tom, Mom, Hannah, Nate, Grandma and Papaw,  thank you for coming and supporting me at every game, scrimmage, all-star game, banquets, etc. You guys are the absolute best and honestly don’t know how much it means to me to know you are by my side. I love you all so much.

To my teammates, thank you all for the best four years any girl playing softball could ask for. Through the good times and the bad times, you all were there to pick me up.

Coming back from a hip surgery after last year’s season-ending injury wasn’t easy. But knowing you all had my back and believed that I was stronger than ever meant a lot. To have been able to be back on the field this year with you would’ve been so exciting and special to us seniors. I wish we could’ve finished what we started but God had other plans for us and I’m a firm believer in that.

To two of my absolute best friends, Montana and Cami, thank you guys for being my rocks throughout our high school years and for always having my back and giving the best love and support possible. You guys are the best and you two will always be my people!

And lastly, to my coaches, teachers and other staff, thank you all for pushing me to be the best I could be … not only on the field but in the classroom as well. Countless hours of team bonding, practices, and games and hours of sitting after practice to talk about game plans and how we could be better, not only individually but for our teammates as well, was something very special to me and something I’ll never forget. The teachers and staff at Huntington will never be comparable to any other and I mean that wholeheartedly. You guys are awesome and will always be special to me. Thank you to Spenser Smith, Brian Smith, George Clay, Jake Kellough and Stephanie Wheeler for all the support and love throughout my four years.

Love, # 2
