New Boston’s Lexus Oiler wins The UPS Store’s SOC Athlete of the Week award

Oiler led the Tigers to a sectional title win over Ironton St. Joe.

GLENWOOD — New Boston’s girls are headed back to a district semifinal and Lexus Oiler is a big reason why.

Oiler is a big reason why the Tigers have had as much success as they’ve had in the first place. But in a Division IV sectional final, she scored a team-high 15 points, willing her team to a 33-32 win over Ironton St. Joe.

Now, the Tigers will face Trimble at 1:45 p.m., Saturday at Jackson.

For her efforts, Oiler is SOSA’s 20th overall SOC Athletes of the Week, presented by The UPS Store.

Out of 1,149 public votes, Oiler accounted for exactly 413 or 35.9 percent of the total. Green’s Kame Sweeney finished second in the voting with 307, Oak Hill’s Caitlyn Brisker was third with a count of 274, and Wheelersburg’s J.J. Truitt was fourth at 155.

Oiler received three of the four votes from the guys at SOSA to win the award.

For her efforts, Oiler will receive a free t-shirt from The UPS Store, as well as meal coupons from the Schmidt Family Restaurant Group.
