CHILLICOTHE — In pressure-filled situations, Chillicothe’s Jayvon Maughmer is as cool as the other side of the pillow.

The Cavaliers’ senior wing has been magnificent all season long, leading his team to an 18-4 mark and a 10-0 record inside the Frontier Athletic Conference.

Last week, Maughmer scored his 1,000th career point in a win over McClain. That just so happened to be the final regular season game of his career.

For that milestone, Maughmer has been voted as SOSA’s Athlete of the Week.

Out of 4,122 public votes, Maughmer accounted for 1,754 or 42.6 percent of the total. Southeastern’s Macie Graves finished second in the voting with 1,155, Jackson’s Caleb Wallis was third with a count of 669, Eastern’s Camryn Pickerill finished fourth at 432, and Paint Valley’s Bryce Newland was fifth with 112.

Maughmer received two of the four votes from the guys at SOSA as well.

For his efforts, Maughmer will receive a a free t-shirt thanks to Mile Tree Screen Printing and a free Wendy’s combo meal via Schmidt Family Restaurant Group.
