South Webster’s Bri Claxon, East’s Kacie Conley win The UPS Store’s SOC Athlete of the Week award

Claxon scored 30 points in a win while Conley had 24 points and 14 rebounds in a victory.

PORTSMOUTH — Two deserving players will share the Southern Ohio Conference Athlete of the Week award this go-around.

South Webster’s Bri Claxon and East’s Kacie Conley will both be honored this week after big-time performances on the hardwood.

Claxon scored 30 points, in the midst of a string of strong performances last week, in a 65-36 win over Clay. Meanwhile, Conley posted a season-high 24 points alongside 14 rebounds and four assists in the Tartans’ first win this year.

For those efforts, Claxon and Conley are SOSA’s 17th and 18th overall SOC Athletes of the Week, presented by The UPS Store.

Out of 1,593 public votes, Conley accounted for 512 or 32.1 percent of the total. Minford’s Livi Shonkwiler finished second in the voting with 429, Claxon was third with a count of 283, Wheelersburg’s Alaina Keeney was fourth at 277, and Notre Dame’s Cassie Schaefer came in fifth with 92.

Claxon received three of the four votes from the guys at SOSA to win her portion of the award.

For their efforts, Conley and Claxon will receive a free t-shirt from The UPS Store, as well as meal coupons from the Schmidt Family Restaurant Group.
