CHILLICOTHE — Tenacity. Emotion. Grit.

Unioto’s Emily Coleman has played with all three of those traits since she stepped onto the basketball scene in the Scioto Valley.

The tough-nosed senior guard has always frustrated opponents with her in-your-face style of defense, she may be on the floor chasing loose balls as much as she’s upright looking for open teammates, and she’s ran the Shermans’ offense for the past four seasons.

With that four-year run coming to an end, Coleman decided to continue her basketball career on Wednesday.

Via Twitter, Coleman announced her commitment to play basketball at St. Louis College of Pharmacy … a Division I NAIA university.

“Special thanks to everyone who helped me reach my goals and get me where I am today,” Coleman wrote. “I’ve been blessed with the best coaches and teammates out there. Thankful for [St. Louis College of Pharmacy] coach [Steve] Allen for giving me the opportunity to play at the next level. Excited to say that I’ll be continuing my academic and athletic career at St. Louis College of Pharmacy.”

The Eutectics are currently 5-10 overall with a 2-8 mark in the American Midwest Conference. Coleman will join the group with the hopes of helping it improve on both marks.

Coleman currently leads the Shermans in scoring at 11.5 points per game. That’s alongside 2.2 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 2.4 steals per night.

Unioto sits at 12-2 overall with an 8-0 mark in the Scioto Valley Conference. During Coleman’s four-year tenure, the team is 69-17 with two conference titles and a Gold Ball to show for.
