CHILLICOTHE — A familiar name will replace Jeff Metzler as Unioto’s new head football coach.
Matt Hoops, the school’s boys basketball coach, was approved for the position by the Board of Education on Monday night … as first reported by 94.3 WKKJ.
Metzler announced his resignation from the position in November after
“I am excited for the opportunity to be the head football coach at Unioto High School,” Hoops said. “I have a great basketball staff and am putting together a great football staff to ensure our student athletes will be well prepared.”
Hoops, who recently picked up his 200th career win on the basketball court, will take over a team that finished 6-4 overall last season and 4-3 in the SVC. The Shermans missed the playoffs for the first time in the past four seasons.
