New Boston’s Kyle Sexton wins The UPS Store’s SOC Athlete of the Week award

Sexton scored a game-high 27 points in a season-opening win over Southeastern this past Saturday.

GLENWOOD — After leading his team to a season-opening win with a performance fans are familiar to seeing from him, New Boston’s Kyle Sexton has won SOSA’s first winter SOC Athlete of the Week award.

Sexton started his junior year by scoring 27 points while tallying 10 rebounds and four assists in a 60-42 win over Southeastern.

Sexton is SOSA’s 12th overall SOC Athlete of the Week, presented by The UPS Store.

Out of 1,324 public votes, Sexton accounted for 612 or 46.2 percent of the total. Eastern’s Hunter Cochenour finished second in the voting with 287, Northwest’s Raegan Lewis was third with a count of 268, South Webster’s Bri Claxon was fourth at 138, and Minford’s Hannah Tolle came in fifth with 19.

Sexton received two of the four votes from the guys at SOSA as well.

For his efforts, Sexton will receive a free t-shirt from The UPS Store, as well as meal coupons from the Schmidt Family Restaurant Group.
