East’s Braidan Haney wins The UPS Store’s SOC Athlete of the Week award

Haney rushed for 78 yards and scored a touchdown in the Titans' season-ending win.

SOSA Staff Report

SCIOTOVILLE — For the first time in the award’s history, an East Tartan has won the SOC Athlete of the Week award.

East’s Braidan Haney needed just four carries to amass 78 yards and score a touchdown in last week’s 12-7 win over Notre Dame. The victory was the Tartans’ second this year and Haney was a big reason why.

For his efforts, Haney is SOSA’s 11th SOC Athlete of the Week, presented by The UPS Store.

Symmes Valley’s Jack Leith actually won the popular vote. Out of 1,233 public votes, Leith accounted for 437 or 35.4 percent of the total. Waverly’s Payton Shoemaker finished second in the voting with 322, Wheelersburg’s Makya Matthews was third with a count of 205, Haney was fourth at 162, and Minford’s Elijah Vogelsong came in fifth with 107.

While Leith won the popular vote, Haney received three of the four votes from the guys at SOSA to win the award.

For his efforts, Haney will receive a free t-shirt from The UPS Store, as well as meal coupons from the Schmidt Family Restaurant Group.
