Sunday afternoon, the OHSAA will release its first round playoff pairings, officially notifying each team who they’re matched up with.

Barring any last minute changes, here’s a look at where eight local teams stand and who they’ll play.

In Division III, Region 11, Jackson (10-0) is the No. 3 seed and will host Columbus Centennial (9-1) at 7 p.m., Friday. The Stars will come into that matchup with just one win over a team with a winning record.

Waverly (8-2) is also a No. 3 seed in Division IV, Region 15 and will host Gallia Academy (9-1) out of the Ohio Valley Conference at 7 p.m., Saturday. The Blue Devils’ only hiccup this season was a 52-0 loss to Ironton.

In Division V, Region 19, both Wheelersburg (7-3) and Minford (7-3) have qualified out of the SOC II … and at least one will advance into Week 12. The No. 3 seeded Pirates and No. 6 seeded Falcons will meet in the first round, in Wheelersburg, at 7 p.m. on Saturday.

If you recall, the first matchup between the pair needed overtime to decide a winner. The Pirates outlasted the Falcons by a 21-20 final.

Also notable in the area in Division V, Region 19, No. 7 Portsmouth (8-2) will travel to undefeated Ridgewood while No. 1 Ironton (9-1) hosts Wellston (7-3). All of the Division V matchups will begin at 7 p.m., Saturday.

In Division VI, three local teams, all from the Scioto Valley Conference, are at the top of Region 24’s rankings. Southeastern (10-0) has locked down the top seed, Paint Valley (8-2) is the No. 2 seed and Adena (8-2) is the No. 3 seed.

The Panthers will host Dayton Christian (8-2), the Bearcats will welcome in Grandview Heights (6-4) and the Warriors will meet with Mechanicsburg (8-2). All three games will kickoff at 7 p.m., Friday night.

The most notable matchup of those three is Paint Valley-Grandview Heights, considering the two met in Week 11 last season. The Bearcats walked away that night with a 39-36 victory.

Lastly, in Division VII, Region 27, Symmes Valley (9-1) is a No. 6 seed and will travel to play No. 3 Shadyside (7-3) at 7 p.m., Saturday.
