Unioto XC earns best finish in school history at state meet

The Shermans' finish is the best in school history.

SOSA Staff Report

HEBRON — Unioto’s cross country programs have always been two of the best in Southern Ohio.

Whether it’s boys, girls, or both, the Shermans continuously find themselves in Hebron at the OHSAA State Cross Country Championships.

This year, the boys had the opportunity to make a statement. They didn’t miss it as they claimed second place in Division II, behind state champion Woodridge.

The finish is the best placing in school history and it’s tied for the best finish in Scioto Valley Conference history — Piketon in 1989.

Gabe Lynch led the Shermans, finishing 23rd overall at 16:24.8 and was followed by Corey Schobelock 25th finish time of 16:25.8.

Eric Hacker came in 31st (16:29.6), followed by Robert Immell (51st, 16:46.0), Clayton Lynch (55th, 16:48.3), Seth Ogan (121st, 17:40.9) and Cater Marko (141st, 17:55.1).
