Northwest’s Brayden Campbell wins The UPS Store’s SOC Athlete of the Week award

Campbell rushed for nine touchdowns on 19 attempts in last week's win over Green.

SOSA Staff Report

McDERMOTT — Brayden Campbell didn’t just perform well last week, he performed legendarily well.

Northwest’s sophomore running back needed just 19 carries to enter the OHSAA’s record books, tying a state record and scoring NINE (!!) touchdowns in a 67-32 win over Green in SOC I action. He coupled that with 366 rushing yards, pushing his season totals to 1,086 yards and 20 touchdowns on 78 carries.

For that enormous effort, Campbell is SOSA’s ninth SOC Athlete of the Week, presented by The UPS Store.

Symmes Valley’s Josh Ferguson actually won the popular vote. Out of 2,743 public votes, Ferguson accounted for 906 or 33 percent of the total. Campbell finished second in the voting with 731, Oak Hill’s Brock Harden was third with a count of 544, Wheelersburg’s Makya Matthews was fourth at 467, and South Webster’s Gabe Ruth came in fifth with 95.

While Ferguson won the popular vote, Campbell received all four votes from the guys at SOSA to win the award.

For his efforts, Campbell will receive a free t-shirt from The UPS Store, as well as meal coupons from the Schmidt Family Restaurant Group.
