SOSA Staff Report
WHEELERSBURG — Wheelersburg’s football program seems to have found its mojo. And at the center of that storm has been senior Evan Horsley.
Horsley led the Pirates to a 55-0 win, the team’s second straight win, and scored six total touchdowns while doing so. Horsley added 56 rushing yards, 150 passing yards and completed 7-of-9 passes in the process.
That performance allowed Horsley to be voted as SOSA’s “Athlete of the Week.”
Out of 660 public votes, Horsley accounted for 249 or 37.7 percent of the total. Westfall’s Madalynn Yates finished second in the voting with 145, Unioto’s Sylvia Gray was third with a count of 131, Paint Valley’s Brayden Ison was fourth at 112, and Clay’s Bryce Toomire came in fifth with 23.
Horsley received three of the four votes from the guys at SOSA as well.
For his efforts, Horsley will receive a free duffel bag from MOJO-USA, a free t-shirt thanks to Mile Tree Screen Printing and a free Wendy’s combo meal via Schmidt Family Restaurant Group.
