GREENFIELD — For the fifth consecutive year, Chillicothe’s girls soccer program can call itself a league champion.

With an 8-2 win over McClain on Tuesday, the Cavaliers (9-2, 8-0 FAC) clinched an outright Frontier Athletic Conference championship. The title is the team’s third straight FAC crown after winning two SCOL banners.

Five different Cavaliers scored in the win, including Zoe Ford, Addie Erslan and Aries Barnes, who all found the back of the net on two occasions.

Caroline Ford and Jenna Lapurga also scored, while Ford handed out two assists and Erslan dished out another.

“Obviously, winning the Frontier Athletic Conference is important to us,” Chillicothe coach Tyler Wickham said. “It was one of our preseason objectives that we set. But we’re not done with the league [schedule]. We still have two games that we are focused on so that we can complete another preseason objective.”

To finish undefeated in the FAC, the Cavaliers will have to beat Jackson and McClain, both at home. The Ironladies come to Herrnstein Field on Thursday.

Also left on Chillicothe’s schedule are non-league dates with Westerville South, Unioto and Point Pleasant (W. Va.).

“It’s a great accomplishment for our seniors to be league champions for four straight seasons,” Wickham said. “They’re helping the younger players stay focused as we transition into our ‘October Season.'”
