West’s Hunter Brown, Northwest’s Brayden Campbell earn The UPS Store’s co-SOC Athlete of the Week honors

PORTSMOUTH — For the first time since the award’s inception, there has been two players named The UPS Store’s SOC Athlete of the Week.

West’s Hunter Brown and Northwest’s Brayden Campbell are the co-SOC Athletes of the Week after aiding their teams to wins this past Friday.

West’s Hunter Brown accounted for two touchdowns in Friday’s 21-12 win.

Brown had eight carries for 39 yards and a touchdown, as well as three catches for 35 yards and a score, in the Senators’ 21-12 win over Coal Grove.

Meanwhile, Campbell ran wild in a 52-16 win over Huntington Ross, to the tune of 175 yards on 14 carries and three scores, including two interceptions on the defensive side of the ball.

Brown won the popular vote while Campbell earned three of the four votes from the guys at SOSA.

Out of 2,079 public votes, Brown accounted for 918 or 44.2 percent of the total. Campbell finished second in the voting with 751, Wheelersburg’s Kaylee Darnell was third with a count of 221, Minford’s Elijah Vogelsong was fourth at 153, and Eastern’s Abby Cochenour came in fifth with 36.

For their efforts, Brown and Campbell will receive a free t-shirt from The UPS Store, as well as meal coupons from the Schmidt Family Restaurant Group.
