SOSA Staff Report

McDERMOTT — Haidyn Wamsley’s motor seems to never stop running.

Whether it’s volleyball, basketball or track and field, the 5-foot-9 junior simply gives everything she’s got … such was the case last week.

Wamsley needed just two matches to amass 29 kills, six aces, nine blocks and 18 digs. In a win over West on Thursday, she had 20 kills in three sets with a 52.6 percent kill percentage.

For her efforts, Wamsley has been voted as SOSA’s “Athlete of the Week.”

Out of 990 public votes, Wamsley accounted for 399 or 40.3 percent of the total. Westfall’s Chloe Tanler finished second in the voting with 258, Zane Trace’s Hannah Hale was third with a count of 171, Notre Dame’s Sophia Hassel was fourth at 108, and Unioto’s Vijay Wangui came in fifth with 54.

Wamsley received two of the four votes from the guys at SOSA as well.

For her efforts, Wamsley will receive a free duffel bag from MOJO-USA, a free t-shirt thanks to Mile Tree Screen Printing and a free Wendy’s combo meal via Schmidt Family Restaurant Group.
