McClain’s Kerigan Pollard wins Athlete of the Week honors

McClain's Kerigan Pollard scored 12 goals in three games this past week.

SOSA Staff Report

GREENFIELD — For some players, scoring 12 goals in a week would count as a more than successful season. For McClain’s Kerigan Pollard, she reaches that number in a single week.

This past week, Pollard scored 12 goals and passed out three assists … helping the Tigers go 1-1-1. Because of that stat line, Pollard has been named Southern Ohio Sports Authority’s “Athlete of the Week.”

Overall, McClain sits at 3-1-1, which is the program’s best start in its history.

Out of 1,530 public votes, Pollard accounted for 516 or 33.7 percent of the total. Chillicothe’s Sophie Fulkerson finished second in the voting with 356, Waverly’s Payton Shoemaker was third with a count of 337, Zane Trace’s Alli Bennett was fourth at 239, and Adena’s Ari DaRif came in fifth with 82.

Pollard received three of the four votes from the guys at SOSA as well.

For her efforts, Pollard will receive a free duffel bag from MOJO-USA, a free t-shirt thanks to Mile Tree Screen Printing and a free Wendy’s combo meal via Schmidt Family Restaurant Group.
