SOSA Staff Report
GLENWOOD — After setting a blistering pace during the first week of play, New Boston’s Blake Grant stands near the top of any area leaderboard.
Last week, Grant scored seven times in two wins over Northwest and Portsmouth, logging a hat trick against the Mohawks in the Tigers’ season-opening win and putting four more in the net against the Trojans.
For those efforts, Grant is SOSA’s first SOC Athlete of the Week, presented by The UPS Store.
Out of 1,967 public votes, Grant accounted for 1,050 or 53.4 percent of the total. South Webster’s Faith Maloney finished second in the voting with 695, Clay’s Bryce Toomire was third with a count of 176, Wheelersburg’s Alli Mcquay was fourth at 30, and Waverly’s Amelia Willis came in fifth with 16.
Grant received two of the four votes from the guys at SOSA as well.
For his efforts, Grant will receive a free t-shirt from The UPS Store, as well as meal coupons from the Schmidt Family Restaurant Group.
