Waverly 142 swept Logan 78 in a season-opening doubleheader Sunday afternoon.

LOGAN — With a sweep of Logan Post 78 in a season-opening doubleheader, Waverly Post 142 started its season on the right foot Sunday afternoon.

In Game 1, the Shockers (2-0) beat Logan 78 by a 6-0 score. In that contest, Hunter Lahrmer (Oak Hill) picked up the pitching win while striking out 10. Lahrmer, Ian Gillen (Waverly), Derek Eblin (Waverly), and Connor Galloway (Piketon) all collected RBIs while Eblin finished 2-for-3 with two RBIs.

Waverly 142 seized the second game by a 15-3 final.

In that contest, Shane Vulgamore (Piketon) picked up the pitching win while striking out four. At the dish, Lahrmer, Gillen, Galloway, Parker Clemmons (Eastern), Cade Powell (West), and Cade McNeil (West) all had at least one RBI. Clemmons was 2-for-3 with a walk, a double and two runs scored.

The Shockers will be back in action Wednesday night as they travel to Chillicothe Post 757, looking to go 3-0 on the young season.
