Southern Ohio Conference announces all-league softball teams

The Southern Ohio Conference released its all-league softball teams Monday afternoon.

PORTSMOUTH — The Southern Ohio Conference announced its all-league softball teams Monday afternoon, which included Player, Pitcher and Coach of the Year honors.

In the SOC I, Symmes Valley’s Sarah Kingery was named the Player of the Year while Notre Dame’s Cassie Schaefer earned Pitcher of the Year honors. Clay’s Jason Gearhart and Notre Dame’s J.D. McKenzie are co-Coaches of the Year.

Joining Kingery and Schaefer with first-team all-conference honors were Notre Dame’s Isabel Cassidy and Claire Dettwiller, Clay’s Preslee Lutz, Shaelyn Vassar and Megan Bazler, Green’s Rachael Cline and Ava Jenkins, New Boston’s Lexus Oiler, Western’s Bailey Elliott, Eastern’s Olivia Hatfield, Symmes Valley’s Kara Saunders, and East’s Hannah Ginn.

Notre Dame’s Ava Hassel and Taylor Schmidt, Clay’s Hannah Oliver and Cassidy Wells, Eastern’s Madison Southworth, Symmes Valley’s Erica Ross, Green’s Kasey Kimbler and Taylen Hickman, Western’s Morgan Whitley and East’s Ali Escamilla earned second-team honors.

Wheelersburg’s Boo Sturgill is a first-team all-SOC II honoree after leading the Pirates to a perfect 14-0 mark in conference play.

In the SOC II, Oak Hill’s Caitlyn Brisker was awarded Player of the Year honors while Waverly’s Hailey Robinson was the Pitcher of the Year. Wheelersburg’s Teresa Ruby was the conference’s Coach of the Year.

A trio of Pirates led the first-team selections in Boo Sturgill, Sarah Claxon and Christen Risner while Minford’s Brittani Wolfenbarker and Hannah Tolle, Waverly’s Hannah Robinson, South Webster’s Gwen Messer, Northwest’s Addi Newman, West’s Lainey Ayers, and Valley’s Kenzie Spencer joined them.

Wheelersburg’s Rylie Hughes and Laney Eller, Minford’s Andi Blevins and Emily Shoemaker, Oak Hill’s Kailey Adkins,Waverly’s Zoiee Smith and Kirsten Blair, South Webster’s Emma Bailey, Northwest’s Laiken Rice, West’s Nataya Richards, and Valley’s Madison Williams are second-team honorees.
