PORTSMOUTH — With two pitching gems in the circle, Clay freshman Preslee Lutz has been voted as the Southern Ohio Sports Authority “Athlete of the Week.”

In 11-0 and 5-3 wins over Symmes Valley and Northwest, Lutz was masterful as she tossed nine combined innings and struck out nine. During her time in the circle, Lutz surrendered just one earned run.

Out of 9,213 public votes — the highest amount SOSA has seen yet — Lutz accounted for 4,378 or 47.5 percent of the total. Piketon’s Jacob Mathews finished second in the voting with 3,245, Paint Valley’s Abbi Stanforth was third with a count of 553, Adena’s Zach Fout took fourth at 523, and Huntington’s Allison Basye was fifth with 514.

Lutz received three of the four votes from the guys at SOSA.

For her efforts, Lutz will receive a free duffel bag from MOJO-USA, a free t-shirt thanks to Mile Tree Screen Printing and a free Wendy’s combo meal via Schmidt Family Restaurant Group.
