WHEELERSBURG — After helping her team earn three wins by a combined 46 runs, Wheelersburg’s Boo Sturgill has been voted as the Southern Ohio Sports Authority “Athlete of the Week.”

In those three wins, scores of 21-0, 19-0 and 7-1, Sturgill was 4-for-8 at the plate with three doubles, six runs scored and four RBIs. So far this season, it seems like that’s been a regular week for the sophomore.

Out of 6,724 public votes, Sturgill accounted for 2,724 or 40.5 percent of the total. Clay’s Dakota Dodds finished a close second in the voting with 2,709, Waverly’s Emma Bellaw was third with a count of 1,056, Unioto’s Cameron DeBord took fourth at 169, and Southeastern’s Lane Ruby was fifth with 66.

Sturgill received two of the four votes from the guys at SOSA.

For her efforts, Sturgill will receive a free duffel bag from MOJO-USA, a free t-shirt thanks to Mile Tree Screen Printing and a free Wendy’s combo meal via Schmidt Family Restaurant Group.
