WHEELERSBURG — After helping her team earn wins number 11, 12 and 13, Wheelersburg’s Laney Eller has been voted as the Southern Ohio Sports Authority “Athlete of the Week.”

Eller’s week featured a 10-for-18 performance at the plate, including two RBIs and six runs near the top of the Pirates’ lineup. That came against stiff competition as well, playing against South Webster in SOC II action and John S. Battle (Va.) and Woodford County (Ky.).

Out of 579 public votes, Eller accounted for 234 or 40.4 percent of the total. Huntington’s Kylee Kellough finished second in the voting with 193, Waverly’s Zoiee Smith was third with a count of 107, Valley’s Tanner Cunningham took fourth at 26, and Chillicothe’s Andrew McCallum was fifth with 19.

Eller received three of the four votes from the guys at SOSA.

For her efforts, Eller will receive a free duffel bag from MOJO-USA, a free t-shirt thanks to Mile Tree Screen Printing and a free Wendy’s combo meal via Schmidt Family Restaurant Group.
