Zane Trace senior Abbey Mohan wins first SOSA Athlete of the Week

Mohan accounted for 34.3 points, placing second in the 100-meter run, second in the high jump and winning both the 800-meter run and 400-meter dash.

KINNIKINNICK — After helping her Pioneers to a second place overall finish at Thursday’s Zane Trace Invitational, senior Abbey Mohan has been named Southern Ohio Sports Authority’s first “Athlete of the Week.”

Mohan accounted for 34.3 points, placing second in the 100-meter run (13.53), second in the high jump (4-feet-6) and winning both the 800-meter run (2:28.97) and 400-meter dash (1:02.86).

Out of 4,079 public votes, Mohan accounted for 1,904 or 46.7 percent of the total. Notre Dame’s Taylor Schmidt finished second in the voting with 1,137, Chillicothe’s Laikin Tarlton was third with a count of 382, Wheelersburg’s Rylie Hughes took fourth at 302, Minford’s Elijah Vogelsong was fifth with 284 and Unioto’s Cameron DeBord came in sixth with 70 votes.

For her efforts, Mohan will receive a free duffel bag from MOJO-USA, a free t-shirt thanks to Mile Tree Screen Printing and a free Wendy’s combo meal via Schmidt Family Restaurant Group.

Mohan and the Pioneers will be back in action Friday at Westfall.
